Yellow Moors

It's yellow time in Nantucket... the moors are covered with  yellow Hudsonia,  the Scotch broom  is popping along the bike paths, and the first ox-eye daisies are showing their centers.

At Masquetuck, Black and White Warbler seen;  many yellowthroats heard,  and a Great Crested Flycatcher heard.    I flushed a Little Blue Heron  on Saturday June 1.  Wild blackberries and bluets blooming.    Cow-wheat covering the understory.

At Squam Swamp, the birding group saw a red-eyed vireo after listening to its persistent song.  Charlotte an I went in to the swamp to seethe Jack in the Pulpits.  We birders also saw an American redstart at the Wauwinet and Squam Road intersection.   Wild geraniums dotted the understory.
